Use these simple fundraising tips or brainstorm and come up with your own creative ideas on how to raise funds.

Getting Started

After registering for our event, you'll receive a personal webpage where your donors can make a secure, online donation. You may customize your page with text and photos to inform your family and friends about your upcoming marathon, send emails to seek support and track your progress. By sharing your story with a wide audience, you'll soon reach and exceed your fundraising goal. But the most effective way to fundraise is to ASK!

Ask early, Ask often
Always carry a couple of pledge forms or be ready to talk about your participation in Stride for Mental Health Awareness. Everyone you encounter should be considered a potential donor. Don't be afraid to ask for support.

Make a personal donation
Get a jump-start to your fundraising by making a personal donation toward your fundraising efforts.

Thank your donors
Keep track of your donors. As donations are received, follow up with a note, email or call to acknowledge and thank the individual or group for the donation.

Sample Letter and E-mail Message

Dear ________,

On May 12, 2018, I will be participating in the NAMI Bucks Stride for Mental Health Awareness. My goal is to increase understanding of the warning signs of mental illness and help raise money to bring NAMI's Ending the Silence Education Program to schools in our community.

One in four adults and one in five children experience mental health problems in any given year, yet only 20% get help. Those problems can contribute to the onset of more serious long-term conditions. One in 17 adults live with a mental illness such as major depression, anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. Approximately one-half of chronic mental illness begins by the age of 14 and three-quarters by age 24.  Unfortunately, long delays−sometimes decades−often occur between the time symptoms first appear and when people get help.

Any amount you give is greatly appreciated. Just $10 will teach a teen about mental health warning signs and how to seek help. In outcome studies for NAMI's Ending the Silence, 5  to 6% of teens seek help for themselves. a friend or family member. The knowledge that you share my commitment to this important cause is important to me, and you will be in my mind and heart as I participate in this worthwhile event. Please go to to donate.

NAMI Bucks is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of the citizens of Bucks County who suffer from a serious mental illness or, as family members and caregivers, share the burden of these devastating illnesses. Our tax ID number is 20-4135679.

Thank you!
